  • Re: Why is SD free?

    I do not understand people who criticize things for the sake of doing so.  SharpDevelop should be commended for their contribution to HUMANITY.  Sure VS.Net offers many time saving features, but you probably don't remember VB 5 and 6.  #Dev gave me the opportunity to learn the .Net framework without having to pay a fortune.  ...

  • Re: Serious Bug... {SharpDevelop is not a valid win32 application}

    I stumbled across this anti-virus product earlier this month.  www.avast.com  You can download a copy of this antivirus for free.  The major advantage to using avast is that it will check all Microsoft Outlook emails.  Avast also incorporates a web scanner that will stop ANY virus detected when loading a web page.   It ...

  • Re: Open Source replacement for IIS?

    I looked briefly at XSP and Apache, but have not had time to get into too much detail.  I think that they might be an option.  I appreciate these ideas, keep them comming.

  • Re: Open Source replacement for IIS?

    Thank You for the reply. I would rather have an Open Source replacement for IIS.  Projects like #Dev and other OSS endeavors are more responsive to the needs of their users.  I like the ability to change whatever I don't like about a specific product without the attitude of ''Deal with it''.  Take this board for example, every user ...

  • Open Source replacement for IIS?

    Does anyone know of an Open Source replacement for Microsoft IIS that works?  It would be even better if the replacement worked both in Windows and Linux.  Microsoft locked out my XP Pro product key because I installed it too many times on my machine so I am stuck using XP Home on the computer I use for .Net Dev and Linux for ...

  • Re: Mono Support?

    To humor my curiosity and because I am extremely new to mono.  You were able to develop a project using #dev targeted at mono?  Or was it that you were able to run #dev on mono?  Or was it something alltogether diferent?

  • Re: Microsoft Visual Studio Beta Warning

    Aladrin-   Don't hurt yourself. :)  We all knew what you meant.  I just needed to point it out for newbies. Forward/Backward-  They really should make the term more descriptive. If you really want to get all that confused, try to read Sony Playstation's technical docs.

  • Re: Serious Bug... {SharpDevelop is not a valid win32 application}

    I am not sure that your install is beyond repair considering that your media player is the only thing that you have stated is being impacted.  To fix this problem: 1.  Uninstall Windows Media Player.  Don't reinstall it until later. 2.  Install a good anti-spyware program.  I recommend using AdAware.  You can find ...

  • Re: Microsoft Visual Studio Beta Warning

    There are attempts currently being made to stabalize ''Wine'' so that they can fix the bugs for the first 1.0 version.  It might (big might) be possible to intall the .Net Runtime under wine, but who knows.  If it is possible to run the MS .Net Runtime and correctly set up the DLL overrides, the #Dev may run in its ...

  • Re: Microsoft Visual Studio Beta Warning

    Forgive my recent Anti-Microsoft attitude.  I recently switched to Linux because I got fed up with viruses and got tired of playing the ''Product Key Game''. I tell you, although a lot of things are still in development with Linux.  I am surprised at a lot of things I have been missing.  Kinda cool that you can install ...
