I've been using SharpDevelop for ASP.NET 1.1 for years and am delighted with it. I've finally decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to .NET 2.0 and SharpDevelop 2.1. Unfortunately I got stopped right away by an installation error. I downloaded SharpDevelop_2.1.0.2429_Final.msi and double-clicked as you would expect. I received this error:
This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.
Do you think the installer just got corrupted by the download or have other people had trouble. I have the .NET 2.0 runtime installed and working properly. I'm running Windows XP with Service Pack 2. Do I need to upgrade my Windows Installer?
