    Question: Why SharpDevelop?

The question I have is more of a devil's advocate type question:

Let's say I don't care about any other frameworks other then .Net3,  I am just a C# developer, so I don't care about VB, Boo or any others. Why would I want to use SharpDevelop instead of using MS Visual C# 2008 Express Edition?

BTW, I do like SharpDevelop. Good work guys.....

How about because SharpDevelop supports code quality tools such as  unit testing, code coverage and code analysis out of the box?

That is a good answer. It however would have more meaning to me if I understood unit testing better. Where could one find this out?

    Re: Question: Why SharpDevelop?

Also the Express Editions are "LIMITED" in the scope of features or "things you can actually code" Project types etc.. not too mention I think if you have Web Express you can't install the Winforms Express - or you could but that overwrites the Web Express Edition... At least that was the way it was with the 2005 version. I code for both the desktop and the web.. and for me .. flexibilty is important. Also think about this - you want VB to C# conversion etc.. built in.. not even in VS2005 or VS2008 Professional editions...- but you have it here..

All kinds of reasons...lets call it flexibility.

Yep that sillouette picture looks a bit like me.
