Hello,

 I see it's a frequently asked question but I can't find an answer though the old threads.

I installed the Framework .NET  3.0 and the Compact Framework .NET 3.5, then SharpDevelop 3.0

I can create and successfully compile application for .NET but not for the CF. In detail, SharpDevelop screams loudy it can't find Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms.dll and eventually doesn't compile saying:

 'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\Microsoft.CompactFramework.CSharp.targets' cannot be found. 

 

Actually, I have the Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms.dll file under C:\Programmi\Microsoft.NET\SDK\CompactFramework\v3.5\WindowsCE but no chance to find the Microsoft.CompactFramework.CSharp.targets file.

I reinstalled #D twice.  

 

Should I set #D to search the right path?

You need to install the .NET 3.5 SDK (part of the Windows Server 2008 SDK).

 I've downloaded and installed the  .Net 3.5 SDK installation and #D 3.0 beta one continues to report:

 Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms.dll Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms.dll: Could not find assembly file.

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\Microsoft.CompactFramework.CSharp.targets' cannot be found.

 I've verified both don't exist. C# Express 2005,2008 and VS 2008 standard edition are all installed on this machine though together with CF 3.5.

The same error appears in #D 2.0 .

I have the same problem.

For now, the only place to get .NET CF 3.5 target files from seems to be VS 2008 Team System. But for CF 2.0, installing .NET 2.0 SDK is sufficient.

Install the Power Toys for v3.5 - that should solve your problem.
